Fight fans will have an inside look on the training camp of Manny Pacquiao and Brandon Rios as they prepare for their highly-anticipated showdown on November 23rd at the Venetian Resort in Macau.
HBO, which will carry the big fight on pay-per-view, will air a three-part series as part of their multi-awarded "24/7" franchise.
Entitled 24/7 Pacquiao/Rios, this show will debut on HBO on November 9th at 12:15 AM Eastern Time right after the HBO "Boxing After Dark" fight card that will feature the rematch between Nonito Donaire and Vic Darchinyan along with the WBO super featherweight title showdown between Rocky Martinez and Mikey Garcia.
The first of the three-part series will feature a behind-the-scene look on training of Pacquiao for his comeback fight.
Based on the quotes released by HBO, Pacquiao and Freddie Roach will talk about his previous fight, particularly the devastating sixth-round knockout loss to rival Juan Manuel Marquez in December last year, while also giving a glimpse on their strategy against the American slugger.
"I am 100% confident of winning this fight. The focus of this camp has been on speed and footwork, which have been my advantages in previous successful fights. I'll be more careful to avoid the careless error I made against Marquez," said Pacquiao in one of the clips released by HBO.
Pacquiao, who vowed to show that he can still fight like the old Manny Pacquiao that was considered as the best in the world, also revealed that they will be implementing the same strategy they used against Ricky Hatton, whom he knocked out in the second round of their 2007 bout.
"My gameplan for Rios will be similar to the one I had for Ricky Hatton. That fight didn't go long enough for me to unveil everything. Maybe this time I'll be able to show more of that plan. Maybe," Pacquiao confidently said.
Rios, on the other hand, vowed to prove his doubters wrong. Talking about his previous fights against Mike Alvarado, Rios said that he will show why he is considered as one of the most exciting fighters in the world today, saying that Pacquiao vs Rios bout could be a strong candidate for Fight of the Year.
"Come November 23 I can guarantee Manny Pacquiao and myself will give the fans the fight of the year. Why? Because Pacquiao has established that he is an elite fighter, I think I have proven throughout my professional career, and especially the last two fights against Mike Alvarado, that I am an exciting fighter," Rios said.
The 24/7 Pacquiao/Rios, which will be narrated by senior producer Rick Bernstein, will also be aired on HBO2 on November 10th at 11:00 PM, November 15th at 10:30 PM, November 22nd at 11:15 PM, and November 23rd at 1:40 PM.
The first episode could also be accessed through HBO On Demand and HBO GO starting November 12th.
The second episode will first air on November 16th, while the series finale will be on November 21st — two days before HBO airs the expected action-packed
